She stood in the heat, eyes fixed on the unfinished villa behind her with no beachfront, backing and no blueprint — just a vision. “Why not build somewhere else?” someone asked. She replied, “Because this is what I have, and I believe it’s enough.” That was my mother, Nikki, and this is the story of what she built — anyway. When no becomes now Every single bank in The Bahamas told her no. They looked at the location — near the airport, not on the beach — and said it would never work. Some even advised her to stop. “Don’t waste what little you have. Save your money. It’s not worth the risk.” But my mother chose to believe in something they couldn’t see: a small, soulful oasis that would welcome the world to our quaint island home of Staniel Cay. She built it without a single loan, but with her savings, sweat and the quiet conviction that God would provide and provide he did… one villa at a time. We now call it Embrace Resort. But in truth, it’s a monument to what grit and grace can build when the world thinks you’re crazy. From sweeping floors to managing dreams My mother started her career sweeping floors at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club. She rose to become the general manager and the person everyone trusted for their most meaningful experiences: weddings, boat tours, fishing trips, anniversaries and more. She became the unofficial concierge of the island. My grandmother Nellie was the first to name it. “You’re already doing the work,” she told my mom. “Make it a business.” That was the beginning of 3N’s: named after Nellie, Nicole (my mom) and me, Natajia. What started with one golf cart We didn’t begin with villas or capital. We started with one golf cart, the main form of transportation in Staniel Cay. Today, 3N’s has grown into a boutique collective of hospitality, travel and lifestyle, creating memorable experiences through golf cart rentals, property management, destination weddings and events, luxury concierge services and private island tours — including our top-rated Swimming Pigs Tour from Nassau, trusted by five-star hotels and high-end travelers.
