ENTREPRENEURS OF PURPOSE by Edie Fraser Salute to reaching forward: Women of purpose, action and legacy This is a moment for women to break barriers, lift others, and shape the future with intention. Through Entrepreneurs of Purpose (EOP), a new program of the Enterprising Women Foundation, women entrepreneurs have an opportunity to turn to action, pair innovation with service, and prove that profitability and philanthropy can grow together. AI is accelerating change. The call to action is clear: rise to new heights in business, use AI in positive and practical ways, and build a legacy rooted in giving. Seize the moment now Women entrepreneurs, innovators, leaders, and changemakers are not waiting for permission. They are scaling businesses, rewiring with focus on tech, strengthening communities, opening doors, and advocating for one another with courage and purpose. The next step is simple: create a clear game plan and review it every week. Build for significance Legacy is not something to postpone. It is built now by celebrating others, elevating their wins, strengthening brands, and creating opportunities that multiply impact. Take the time to invest whether in supporting education, building your own donor advisory fund or foundation, creating an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) or giving back in other ways with volunteer time or money. Growth also requires new capabilities, including using AI in creative ways. Build and accelerate with partners and those you trust. “Accelerate action” and “move forward together” are not slogans. They are strategic imperatives. Women entrepreneurs are already a powerful force in the economy, yet many still face barriers to capital, networks, procurement opportunities, media visibility, and technology resources. That reality creates a larger responsibility not only to succeed personally, but to build systems that help others succeed on a scale. Purpose-driven women know that relationships matter. Connectivity matters. Community matters. Collaboration matters. Identify five women to connect with each week and build those relationships with intention. That means our responsibility is not only to succeed personally but to build systems that help others succeed and scale. Build a trusted circle and keep growing it Choose the people you can build with and accelerate. That trusted circle becomes a force for growth, accountability, introductions, and shared philanthropy. Examples of this spirit can be seen in women leaders and organizations committed to building and giving back. Sharon Reynolds (my co-chair of EOP and my sister) with DevMar Manufacturing reflects a commitment to growth and sustainable business practices. Monica Smiley, the publisher of Enterprising Women and the president and founder of the Enterprising Women Foundation is giving back with the Young Enterprising Women (YEW) and Peace Through Business programs. Gloria Bohan and her company, OMEGA World Travel exemplify decades of innovation, service, and leadership in travel and hospitality while giving back in significant ways. Joyce Salzberg from Sunny Days Early Childhood Development Services is creating a legacy through her work with families with disabilities and her give back in big ways with Temple University by establishing the Joyce Center for Professional Development. This is a career center for students that is helping thousands determine their career paths and is impacting countless lives.
